Narrated Shaqiq bin Salama: I was sitting with Abu Mas`ud and Abu Musa and `Ammar. حدثنا عبدان، عن أبي حمزة، عن الأعمش، عن شقيق بن سلمة، كنت جالسا مع أبي مسعود وأبي موسى وعمار فقال أبو مسعود ما من أصحابك أحد إلا لو شئت لقلت فيه غيرك، وما رأيت منك شيئا منذ صحبت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أعيب عندي من استسراعك في هذا الأمر‏.‏ قال عمار يا أبا مسعود وما رأيت منك ولا من صاحبك هذا شيئا منذ صحبتما النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أعيب عندي من إبطائكما في هذا الأمر‏.‏ فقال أبو مسعود وكان موسرا يا غلام هات حلتين‏.‏ فأعطى إحداهما أبا موسى والأخرى عمارا وقال روحا فيه إلى الجمعة‏.‏

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: Bahiyyah said: I heard a woman asking Aisha about the woman whose menses became abnormal and she had an issue of blood. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) asked me to advise her that she should consider the period during which she used to menstruate every month, when her menstruation was normal. Then she should count the days equal to the length of time (of her normal menses); then she should abandon prayer during those days or equal to that period. She should then take a bath, tie a cloth on her private parts a pray.

حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، حدثنا أبو عقيل، عن بهية، قالت سمعت امرأة، تسأل عائشة عن امرأة، فسد حيضها وأهريقت دما فأمرني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن آمرها فلتنظر قدر ما كانت تحيض في كل شهر وحيضها مستقيم فلتعتد بقدر ذلك من الأيام ثم لتدع الصلاة فيهن أو بقدرهن ثم لتغتسل ثم لتستثفر بثوب ثم لتصلي ‏.‏

Ibn 'Umar reported: I heard 'Umar b. Khattab delivering sermon on the pulpit ol Allah's messenger (may peace be upon him) and saying': Now, coming to the point, O people, there was revealed (the command pertaining to the prohibition of wine) and it was prepared (at that time) out of five things: grape, date, honey, wheat, barley, and wine is that which clouds the intellect, and, O people, I wish Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had explained to us in greater detail three things: the inheritance of the grandfather, of one who dies without leaving any issue, and some of the problems of interest.

وحدثنا أبو كريب، أخبرنا ابن إدريس، حدثنا أبو حيان، عن الشعبي، عن ابن، عمر قال سمعت عمر بن الخطاب، على منبر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول أما بعد أيها الناس فإنه نزل تحريم الخمر وهى من خمسة من العنب والتمر والعسل والحنطة والشعير والخمر ما خامر العقل وثلاث أيها الناس وددت أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان عهد إلينا فيهن عهدا ننتهي إليه الجد والكلالة وأبواب من أبواب الربا ‏.‏

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin 'As that: the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Allah will not take away knowledge by removing it from people (from their hearts). Rather He will take away knowledge by taking away the scholars, then when there are no scholars left, the people will take the ignorant as their leaders. They will be asked questions and they will issue verdicts without knowledge, thus they will go astray and lead others astray.'"

حدثنا أبو كريب، محمد بن العلاء حدثنا عبد الله بن إدريس، وعبدة، وأبو معاوية وعبد الله بن نمير ومحمد بن بشر ح وحدثنا سويد بن سعيد، حدثنا علي بن مسهر، ومالك بن أنس، وحفص بن ميسرة، وشعيب بن إسحاق، عن هشام بن عروة، عن أبيه، عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ‏"‏ إن الله لا يقبض العلم انتزاعا ينتزعه من الناس ولكن يقبض العلم بقبض العلماء فإذا لم يبق عالما اتخذ الناس رءوسا جهالا فسئلوا فأفتوا بغير علم فضلوا وأضلوا ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Abu Salamah said: "Abu Hurairah and Ibn 'Abbas differed concerning the widow who gives birth after her husband's death. Abu Hurairah said: 'She may be married.' Ibn 'Abbas said: '(She has to wait) for the longer of the two periods.' They sent word to Umm Salamah and she said: 'The husband of Subai'ah died and she gave birth fifteen days -half a month- after her husband died.' She said: 'Two men proposed marriage to her, and she was inclined toward one of them. When they feared that she was becoming single-minded (on this issue, and not consulting her family), they said: It is not permissible for you to marry. She went to the Messenger of Allah and he said: 'It is permissible for you to marry, so marry whomever you want.''"

أخبرنا محمود بن غيلان، قال حدثنا أبو داود، قال حدثنا شعبة، قال أخبرني عبد ربه بن سعيد، قال سمعت أبا سلمة، يقول اختلف أبو هريرة وابن عباس في المتوفى عنها زوجها إذا وضعت حملها قال أبو هريرة تزوج ‏.‏ وقال ابن عباس أبعد الأجلين ‏.‏ فبعثوا إلى أم سلمة فقالت توفي زوج سبيعة فولدت بعد وفاة زوجها بخمسة عشر نصف شهر - قالت - فخطبها رجلان فحطت بنفسها إلى أحدهما فلما خشوا أن تفتات بنفسها قالوا إنك لا تحلين ‏.‏ قالت فانطلقت إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال ‏"‏ قد حللت فانكحي من شئت ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Narrated Umm Salamah, Ummul Mu'minin: In the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) there was a woman who had an issue of blood. So Umm Salamah asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to give a decision about her. He said: She should consider the number of nights and days during which she used to menstruate each month before she was afflicted with this trouble and abandon prayer during that period each month. When those days and nights are over, she should take a bath, tie a cloth over her private parts and pray.

حدثنا عبد الله بن مسلمة، عن مالك، عن نافع، عن سليمان بن يسار، عن أم سلمة، زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أن امرأة كانت تهراق الدماء على عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فاستفتت لها أم سلمة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال ‏"‏ لتنظر عدة الليالي والأيام التي كانت تحيضهن من الشهر قبل أن يصيبها الذي أصابها فلتترك الصلاة قدر ذلك من الشهر فإذا خلفت ذلك فلتغتسل ثم لتستثفر بثوب ثم لتصل فيه ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Hammim b. Munabbih said: Abu Huraira reported (so many) ahadith of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him), and one of them is this: A person bought from another person a piece of land, and the person who had, bought that land found in it an earthen ware which contained gold. The person who had bought the land said (to the seller of the land): Take your gold from me, for I bought only the land from you and not the gold. The man who had sold the land said: I sold the land to you and whatever was in it. They referred the matter to a person. One who was made as a judge said to them: Have you any issue? One of them said: I have a boy, and the other said: I have a young daughter He (the judge) said: Marry this young boy with the girl, and spend something on yourselves and also give (some) charity out of it.

حدثنا محمد بن رافع، حدثنا عبد الرزاق، حدثنا معمر، عن همام بن منبه، قال هذا ما حدثنا أبو هريرة، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فذكر أحاديث منها وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ اشترى رجل من رجل عقارا له فوجد الرجل الذي اشترى العقار في عقاره جرة فيها ذهب فقال له الذي اشترى العقار خذ ذهبك مني إنما اشتريت منك الأرض ولم أبتع منك الذهب ‏.‏ فقال الذي شرى الأرض إنما بعتك الأرض وما فيها - قال - فتحاكما إلى رجل فقال الذي تحاكما إليه ألكما ولد فقال أحدهما لي غلام وقال الآخر لي جارية ‏.‏ قال أنكحوا الغلام الجارية وأنفقوا على أنفسكما منه وتصدقا ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Narrated `Abdullah bin Abi Qatada: My father said, "The Prophet used to recite Al-Fatiha along with another Sura in the first two rak`at of the Zuhr and `Asr prayers. A verse or so was audible at times and he used to prolong the first rak`a."

حدثنا محمد بن يوسف، حدثنا الأوزاعي، حدثني يحيى بن أبي كثير، حدثني عبد الله بن أبي قتادة، عن أبيه، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يقرأ بأم الكتاب وسورة معها في الركعتين الأوليين من صلاة الظهر وصلاة العصر، ويسمعنا الآية أحيانا، وكان يطيل في الركعة الأولى‏.‏

Ibn 'Umar reported that Umar delivered a sermon on the pulpit of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and he praised Allah and lauded Him and then said: Now coming to the point. Behold I when the command pertaining to the prohibition of wine was revealed, it was prepared from five things: from wheat, barley, date, grape, honey; and wine is that which clouds the intellect; and O people, I wish Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) could have explained to us in (more) detail the laws pertaining to the inheritance of the grandfather, about one who dies leaving no issue, and some of the problems pertaining to interest.

حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة، حدثنا علي بن مسهر، عن أبي حيان، عن الشعبي، عن ابن عمر، قال خطب عمر على منبر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فحمد الله وأثنى عليه ثم قال أما بعد ألا وإن الخمر نزل تحريمها يوم نزل وهى من خمسة أشياء من الحنطة والشعير والتمر والزبيب والعسل ‏.‏ والخمر ما خامر العقل وثلاثة أشياء وددت أيها الناس أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان عهد إلينا فيها الجد والكلالة وأبواب من أبواب الربا ‏.‏

Narrated Abu Talhah: "When the Prophet (ﷺ) overtook a people he would stay at the outskirts of their city for three nights."

حدثنا قتيبة، ومحمد بن بشار، قالا حدثنا معاذ بن معاذ، عن سعيد بن أبي عروبة، عن قتادة، عن أنس، عن أبي طلحة، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا ظهر على قوم أقام بعرصتهم ثلاثا ‏.‏ قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيح وحديث حميد عن أنس حديث حسن صحيح ‏.‏ وقد رخص قوم من أهل العلم في الغارة بالليل وأن يبيتوا وكرهه بعضهم ‏.‏ وقال أحمد وإسحاق لا بأس أن يبيت العدو ليلا ‏.‏ ومعنى قوله وافق محمد الخميس يعني به الجيش ‏.‏

Abu Musa reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The similitude of mine and of that with which Allah sent me is that of a person who came to us and said: O people, I have seen an army with my eyes and I am a plain warner (and issue you warning) that you should immediately manage to find an escape. A group of people from amongst them paying heed (to his warning) fled to a place of protection and a group amongst them belied him and the morning overtook them in their houses and the army attacked them and killed them and they were routed. And that is the similitude of the one who obeyed me, followed with which I had been sent and the similitude of the other is of one who disobeyed and belied me and the Truth with which I have been sent.

حدثنا عبد الله بن براد الأشعري، وأبو كريب - واللفظ لأبي كريب - قالا حدثنا أبو أسامة، عن بريد، عن أبي بردة، عن أبي موسى، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ‏"‏ إن مثلي ومثل ما بعثني الله به كمثل رجل أتى قومه فقال يا قوم إني رأيت الجيش بعينى وإني أنا النذير العريان فالنجاء ‏.‏ فأطاعه طائفة من قومه فأدلجوا فانطلقوا على مهلتهم وكذبت طائفة منهم فأصبحوا مكانهم فصبحهم الجيش فأهلكهم واجتاحهم فذلك مثل من أطاعني واتبع ما جئت به ومثل من عصاني وكذب ما جئت به من الحق ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Narrated Anas bin Malik: A man peeped into a room of the Prophet. The Prophet stood up, holding an arrow head. It is as if I am just looking at him, trying to stab the man.

حدثنا مسدد، حدثنا حماد بن زيد، عن عبيد الله بن أبي بكر، عن أنس بن مالك، أن رجلا، اطلع من بعض حجر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقام إليه النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بمشقص أو بمشاقص فكأني أنظر إليه يختل الرجل ليطعنه‏.‏

Narrated 'Amr b. Shu'aib: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) killed a man of Banu Nadr ibn Malik at Harrah ar-Righa' at the bank of Layyat al-Bahrah. The transmitter Mahmud (ibn Khalid) also mentioned the words along with the words "at Bahrah" "the slayer and the slain were from among them". Mahmud alone transmitted in this tradition the words "at the bank of Layyah".

حدثنا محمود بن خالد، وكثير بن عبيد، قالا حدثنا ح، وحدثنا محمد بن الصباح بن سفيان، أخبرنا الوليد، عن أبي عمرو، عن عمرو بن شعيب، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قتل بالقسامة رجلا من بني نصر بن مالك ببحرة الرغاء على شط لية البحرة قال القاتل والمقتول منهم ‏.‏ وهذا لفظ محمود ببحرة أقامه محمود وحده على شط لية البحرة ‏.‏

Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: When one of you looks at one who stands at a higher level than you in regard to wealth and physical structure he should also see one who stands at a lower level than you in regard to these things (in which he stands) at a hi-her level (as compared to him).

حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى، وقتيبة بن سعيد، قال قتيبة حدثنا وقال، يحيى أخبرنا المغيرة بن عبد الرحمن الحزامي، عن أبي الزناد، عن الأعرج، عن أبي هريرة، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ‏"‏ إذا نظر أحدكم إلى من فضل عليه في المال والخلق فلينظر إلى من هو أسفل منه ممن فضل عليه ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Narrated `Abdullah bin Abu Qatada: That his father said "We proceeded with the Prophet in the year of Al-Hudaibiya and his companions assumed Ihram but I did not. We were informed that some enemies were at Ghaiqa and so we went on towards them. My companions saw an onager and some of them started laughing among themselves. I looked and saw it. I chased it with my horse and stabbed and caught it. I wanted some help from my companions but they refused. (I slaughtered it all alone). We all ate from it (i.e. its meat). Then I followed Allah's Apostle lest we should be left behind. At times I urged my horse to run at a galloping speed and at other times at an ordinary slow speed. On the way I met a man from the tribe of Bani Ghifar at midnight. I asked him where he had left Allah's Apostle . The man replied that he had left the Prophet at a place called Ta'hun and he had the intention of having the midday rest at As-Suqya. So, I followed Allah's Apostle till I reached him and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have been sent by my companions who send you their greetings and compliments and ask for Allah's Mercy and Blessings upon you. They were afraid lest the enemy might intervene between you and them; so please wait for them." So he did. Then I said, "O Allah's Apostle! We have hunted an onager and have some of it (i.e. its meat) left over." Allah's Apostle told his companions to eat the meat although all of them were in a state of Ihram."

حدثنا سعيد بن الربيع، حدثنا علي بن المبارك، عن يحيى، عن عبد الله بن أبي قتادة، أن أباه، حدثه قال انطلقنا مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عام الحديبية فأحرم أصحابه، ولم أحرم، فأنبئنا بعدو بغيقة فتوجهنا نحوهم، فبصر أصحابي بحمار وحش، فجعل بعضهم يضحك إلى بعض، فنظرت فرأيته فحملت عليه الفرس، فطعنته، فأثبته، فاستعنتهم، فأبوا أن يعينوني، فأكلنا منه، ثم لحقت برسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وخشينا أن نقتطع، أرفع فرسي شأوا، وأسير عليه شأوا، فلقيت رجلا من بني غفار في جوف الليل فقلت أين تركت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال تركته بتعهن وهو قائل السقيا‏.‏ فلحقت برسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حتى أتيته فقلت يا رسول الله، إن أصحابك أرسلوا يقرءون عليك السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته، وإنهم قد خشوا أن يقتطعهم العدو دونك، فانظرهم، ففعل فقلت يا رسول الله، إنا اصدنا حمار وحش، وإن عندنا فاضلة‏.‏ فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لأصحابه ‏"‏ كلوا ‏"‏‏.‏ وهم محرمون‏.‏

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that: the Messenger of Allah enjoined Zakatul-Fitr at the end of Ramadan upon the people; a Sa' of dates or a Sa' of barley, upon everyone, free or slave, male or female, of the Muslims.

حدثني عبد الله بن محمد الجعفي، حدثنا أبو عامر عبد الملك، حدثنا إبراهيم هو ابن طهمان عن أبي جمرة، عن ابن عباس، رضى الله عنهما قال أول جمعة جمعت بعد جمعة جمعت في مسجد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في مسجد عبد القيس بجواثى‏.‏ يعني قرية من البحرين‏.‏

It was narrated that Abu Salamah said: "I said to Abu Sa'eed Khudri: 'Did you hear the Messenger of Allah mention anything about the Haruriyyah (a sect of Khawarij)?' He said: 'I heard him mention a people who would appear to be devoted worshippers: "Such that anyone of you would regard his own prayer and fasting as insignificant when compared to theirs. But they will pass through Islam like an arrow passing through its target, then he (the archer) picks up his arrow and looks at its iron head but does not see anything, then he looks at the shaft and does not see anything, then he looks at the band: that which is wrapped around the iron head where it is connected to the shaft, then he looks at the feather and is not sure whether he sees anything or not."

حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة، حدثنا يزيد بن هارون، أنبأنا محمد بن عمرو، عن أبي سلمة، قال قلت لأبي سعيد الخدري هل سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يذكر في الحرورية شيئا فقال سمعته يذكر قوما يتعبدون ‏"‏ يحقر أحدكم صلاته مع صلاتهم وصومه مع صومهم يمرقون من الدين كما يمرق السهم من الرمية ‏"‏ ‏.‏ أخذ سهمه فنظر في نصله فلم ير شيئا فنظر في رصافه فلم ير شيئا فنظر في قدحه فلم ير شيئا فنظر في القذذ فتمارى هل يرى شيئا أم لا ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Narrated Usama bin Zaid: Allah's Apostle proceeded from `Arafat and dismounted at the mountainous pass and then urinated and performed a light ablution. I said to him, "(Shall we offer) the prayer?" He replied, "The prayer is ahead of you (i.e. at Al-Muzdalifa)." When he came to Al-Muzdalifa, he performed a perfect ablution. Then Iqama for the prayer was pronounced and he offended the Maghrib prayer and then every person made his camel kneel at his place; and then Iqama for the prayer was pronounced and he offered the (`Isha') prayer and he did not offer any prayer in between them (i.e. Maghrib and `Isha' prayers).

حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف، أخبرنا مالك، عن موسى بن عقبة، عن كريب، عن أسامة بن زيد رضى الله عنهما أنه سمعه يقول دفع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من عرفة، فنزل الشعب، فبال ثم توضأ، ولم يسبغ الوضوء‏.‏ فقلت له الصلاة‏.‏ فقال ‏"‏ الصلاة أمامك ‏"‏‏.‏ فجاء المزدلفة، فتوضأ، فأسبغ، ثم أقيمت الصلاة، فصلى المغرب، ثم أناخ كل إنسان بعيره في منزله، ثم أقيمت الصلاة فصلى، ولم يصل بينهما‏.‏
